Between the conceptions
Loud music and drunk people strewed throughout the city. Homeless on every corner, voodoo witches watching as you walk by there windows praying on the innocent. This was my preconception of this area. This is far from what is witnessed, it is true they have homeless but they are not lined up along the streets. This is music but it is very pleasing to the ears and you can almost feel it in your bones. The history is rich and tantalizing, teasing you to want to know more. Walking through the beautiful cemetery which is not kept up as cemeteries in Illinois are yet they are more beautiful than we could ever come close to. The history and present time meet, leaving gift for the dead thinking that will influence their future. The charm, the ambience of the area is magical, its as if you can feel their power and hear the music of the past as you walk along the broken up paths. You cant help but think that you are walking among all the souls of the past, not only are you walking among but you are walking with them. I learned that this city has more power than any other city I have ever been in, this city leaves me yearning for more, more knowledge and secrets of the past. I learned how much I live in a bubble and I need to get out more and experience life and history. There is so much more out there than the fields of Illinois. I feel like I have spent way to much time making life and it time to start living life, enjoying what life has to offer. This experience has lite that little flame under my rump, the flame of life and all it has to offer. I want to start planning trips with my children so they can experience the history of their world and how important it is to make your stain on the world.
